Holland Opera - Feest

September 10 to October 4, 2026, at the Veerensmederij in Amersfoort

INFORMATION

Feest is a “Scandi-thriller-opera” in which live music and film merge into a compelling theatrical performance. A musical evening that provokes and moves. A cinematic family epic from the creators of Divorce of Figaro, The Cherry Orchard, and The Flying Dutchman.

Anna den Doolaerd-Gunnarsdottir returns to her husband’s family home after many years. Family, friends, and acquaintances are preparing a surprise party. There is laughter, singing, and toasting, but Anna has a surprise of her own…

What begins as a surprise party turns into a confrontational family drama about love, jealousy, and the right to determine the course of one’s own life. Old tensions flare up, secrets come to light, and the line between celebration and tragedy blurs.

Feest is a collaboration with Muziektheater de Veerensmederij and the September Me Music Festival, which is celebrating its anniversary.
