This Is About Us – Anne & Zef, Opera Theater with Live Piano, Clarinet/Bass Clarinet
The past is never dead. It isn’t even a thing of the past. This is about you. This is about us.
This Is About Us—The Story of Anne & Zef is a powerful musical theater production for secondary schools in which the story of Anne Frank introduces young people to the history of the Holocaust. A fictional encounter with Zef raises questions about freedom, exclusion, and moral choices. Through educational materials and a potential post-performance discussion, students are invited to connect historical events with current issues regarding empathy, polarization, responsibility, and living together.
With the creation of *Dit gaat over ons - Anne & Zef*, Opera Spanga is building a new narrative around the history of hatred and intolerance that led to World War II. At the same time, it juxtaposes this history with the cultural phenomenon of blood feuds.
